Power Quality Monitoring to demonstrate compliance against the relevant EREC specifications, Survey, Design, Installation, Test and Commission. Stakeholder Management, leading interface with the DNO.

WJ Project Services led the delivery of a power export limit increase project, increasing the export limit from 1.2 MW to 7.5 MW from embedded private generation to the grid. The work involved G99, G5/5, P28 and P29 compliance studies, design, installation, testing and commissioning into operational service, together with management of the interface with the DNO.
Works started with a review of the existing connection agreement with the DNO and the latest applicable ENA Engineering Recommendations (ERECs), followed by engagement with the DNO and submission of the application. Once the scope had been defined and agreed, power quality monitoring was carried out to support the relevant compliance studies.
Following completion of the power quality studies, the design work was undertaken. The design was coordinated with the DNO’s counter-design and approved for construction before installation works commenced.
Following installation, the scheme was commissioned into operational service jointly with the DNO, with all cross-boundary checks completed. All G99 hot commissioning forms were signed, and the test results and applied protection settings were recorded in the relevant Inspection and Test Plans.
The increased power export provides additional revenue for the client, greater generating flexibility and more efficient operation of the generating plant.
